About the ArtistAlison Brady creates photographs of women that are simultaneously humorous and sensual. Playing with materials used in typical erotic imagery, such as lingerie, lace, and lipstick, Brady masterfully alters the desirability of her subjects by obscuring their identities and adding bits of the grotesque. Using tactics such as draping soggy cornflakes or cold cuts on body parts, or putting high heels on hands to make them appear to be spindly, emaciated legs, Brady confronts traditional representations of women in art and media, and pokes fun at erotic and fantastical imagery.Alison Brady completed her BFA from the School of Art, Architecture, Design & Planning, Cincinnati, OH (2003) and her MFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, NY (2006). She has been included in exhibitions at Rick Wester Fine Art, Inc. New York, NY (2014), Queensland Centre For Photography South Brisbane, Australia (2013), and the Kirkland Arts Center, Kirkland, WA (2011), among many others.
