About the ArtistThe recipient of the 2015 Snider Prize, Trent Davis Bailey uses photography to map his experience of the North Fork–a valley in Colorado and a place within his imagination. The verdant landscape of mesas and plains, precipitous canyons and sloping forests, parallels the artist’s own complex terrain of memories there. Bailey first visited the region with his father at age seven, marveling at his aunt, uncle, and cousins who lived in a large army tent and grew their own food in a backyard garden. The small agricultural communities of the North Fork continue to inspire his long-term photographic inquiry into rural life in the valley and his childhood memory of the place. Bailey is the recipient of the 2014 Atlantic Philanthropies Grant from the Magnum Foundation, and completed an MFA in photography at California College of the Arts in 2015.
