About the ArtistBorn in Detroit, Jen Everett uses photography, sculpture, and installation to deconstruct reductive or false narratives on the complexities of contemporary Black identity. Mining found archives and family albums, she works with vernacular photography to reshape and merge aspects from the past and present to reshape the nuanced nature of representation of Blackness in America. She completed her MFA in May 2019 from Washington University in St. Louis. Everett is a runner-up of the 2019 Snider Prize.
