About the ArtistKevin Bubriski is an American documentary photographer who documents his journeys to Nepal, India, Tibet, and Bangladesh. He completed his BA from Bowdoin College (1975), studied at Anthropology Film Center, Santa Fe, NM (1981), and his MFA at Bennington College (1997). Solo exhibitions include the Museum of Photographic Arts, San Diego; National Arts Club, New York; Whitney Museum of American Art, New York; and Bhai Dega Temple, Kathmandu, Nepal. Group exhibitions have been held at the Museum of Modern Art, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Library of Congress, among others. His work is in many permanent collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, International Center of Photography, Bibliothèque Nationale, Musée de l’Elysée, and Fogg Art Museum. Bubriski is a recipient of fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, Fulbright, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Asian Cultural Council. He is the author of Portrait of Nepal, which won the Golden Light Documentary Award in 1993, and Power Places of Kathmandu: Hindu and Buddhist Holy Sites in the Sacred Valley of Nepal.
