About the ArtistSharon Lockhart investigates her own adolescence by re-photographing prints made by her family members. Her series confronts the critical roles that everyday photography has in the ways we self-identify and self-express, as she particularly looks at the role images have in the lives of young women. Lockhart’s work is held in the permanent collections of the Arts Institute of Chicago; the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh; the Eli Broad Family Foundation, Los Angeles; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Los Angeles County Museum of Art; the Whitney Museum of Art, New York; among many others.
