About the ArtistChristopher James is a painter and photographer, working in both black and white and color. In his photographic practice he has extensively employed alternative and historical printing processes, including albumen prints, cyanotypes, daguerrotypes, and gum bichromate prints. He is the author of a technical reference manual, The Book of Alternative Photographic Processes, published initially in 2001 and in a second edition in 2008. James completed a BFA at Massachusetts College of Art and an MA in Teaching at Rhode Island School of Design. He taught at Harvard University for thirteen years before joining the faculty of the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, where he is a Professor of Photography and Department Chair.
