About the ArtistDoug Ischar is an artist working in photography, video and sound. He completed a BA at Columbia College in 1984 and an MFA at California Institute of the Arts, in Valencia, California in 1987. During these years in the 1980s he worked on a number of documentary projects that examined aspects of gay culture and manifestations of male intimacy in everyday life, photographing the gay beach scene at Chicago's historic Belmont Rocks at the time, among other subjects. Since 1990, Ischar has taught film and new media at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
