About the ArtistBorn in Santa Barbara, California, Darryl Curran completed an associate degree from Ventura College (1958), and a BA and an MA from the University of California, Los Angeles (1960, 1964). The 20/20 portfolio, published in 1985 by UCLA, gathered the work of twenty photographers who had completed the MFA photography program within the last twenty years. Curran was included along with Ellen Brooks, Gillian Brown, Jack Butler, Jo Ann Callis, Judy Coleman, John Divola, William Doherty, Sidney Doniger, Robbert Flick, Jeff Gates, Graham Howe, Paul Knotter, Victor Landweber, Kenneth McGowan, Philip Melnick, Patrick Nagatani, Karen O'Hearn, Pat O'Neill, Sheila Pinkel, Scott Rankin, Kenneth Shorr, and Elfie Wilkins-Nacht. In 1967, Curran joined the faculty of California State University, Fullerton, where he founded the Creative Photography BA and MA programs.
