About the ArtistBruce Barnbaum completed a BA (1965) and an MA (1967) in mathematics from UCLA, during which time he pursued photography as a hobby. After working as a mathematical analyst and computer programmer for missile guidance systems, Barnbaum embarked on a full-time career as a photographer in 1970. Barnbaum has primarily devoted himself to black-and-white landscape photography and he states, "The unspeakable beauty, sheer power, and sublime tranquility of the natural environment is the reason I became a photographer." In addition to his activities as a photographer, Barnbaum is an active environmentalist, writer, and educator.Davidson, Bruce
