Fichter, Robert
Robert Fichter completed a BFA in painting and printmaking at the University of Florida, Gainesville (1963) and an MFA in Photography at Indiana University, Bloomington (1966). He was Assistant Curator of Exhibitions at the George Eastman House Museum, Rochester New York from 1966 to 1968, after which point he began teaching at the University of California, Los Angeles. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s he taught primarily at Florida State University, Tallahassee, with interim visiting artist positions at Cranbrook Academy of Art and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Fichter is represented in the portfolio Underware, published in 1976 by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to celebrate its centennial year, as one of nine former visiting artists along with photographs by the faculty of the Department of Photography.
