Hudnall, Earlie, Jr.
Earlie Hudnall grew up in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. After serving in the Marine Corps he attended Texas Southern University in Houston, where he majored in art. As a student Hudnall began working as a photographer with Houston's Model Cities Program, a municipal program designed to provide services to various communities, which introduced him to a number of the city's wards. Photographing in some of these predominantly African American neighborhoods became the starting point for Hudnall's lifelong interest in documenting daily life and community relationships. He has since photographed in other states, including Mississippi and Georgia. Although Hudnall's photographs have been praised as a powerful chronicle of African American life in the United States, he is primarily focused on relating universal stories and moments that resonate regardless of the subject's race. Hudnall is currently the staff photographer for Texas Southern University.
