Kennedy, BillAmerican, b. 1951

Bill Kennedy has worked in a broad range of photographic modes for over forty years, including documentary, landscape, portraiture, and commercial photography. He completed a Bachelor of Journalism (1974) and a Master of Arts (1981) at the University of Texas at Austin. While a graduate student, Kennedy completed an architectural documentary project on Comfort, Texas—a small, unincorporated community in Texas Hill Country settled by German Freethinkers in the nineteenth century. The photograph held in the Museum of Contemporary Photography’s permanent collection was shot using a 4x5 large format camera during one of the many trips Kennedy made to Comfort. Bill Kennedy’s work has been exhibited nationally and is held in several private and public collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the Ansel Adams Estate Trust, Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, AZ; and American Airlines, Euless, TX. Kennedy was a Professor Emeritus at St. Edward’s University, Austin, TX.
