BiographyEileen Mueller’s work focuses on the material history of the photograph and its role in confounding unwritten or inaccessible histories. She highlights the fictive nature of archival materials by interweaving them with her own life and journeys. In this image, she depicts artist Aspen Mays as part of her On Teaching series. Work by Aspen Mays is in the Museum of Contemporary Photography collection. Mueller’s work was included in the MoCP exhibition, Phantoms of the Dirt, in 2014. She is the recipient of the Fred Endsley Memorial Fellowship and the World Less Travelled Grant. Mueller’s work has been exhibited at Andrew Rafacz Gallery; Iceberg Projects; Roots & Culture; and Johalla Projects, among others.
