Kander, NadavIsraeli, b. 1961

Nadav Kander has traveled across the globe, focusing on environmental degradation, places of mass development and devastation, and recording, in his words, the “aesthetics of destruction.” A master at making the bleak sublime, Kander produces photographs that are riveting in their beauty and stillness, and speak to the role of ruins in the landscape. His images also suggest a certain precariousness—things are falling, seem shoddily built, or demonstrate a disregard for ecology. Kander applies formal order and elegance to these sites of chaos and ruin, creating compelling and complicated images of the built landscape.

Nadav Kander has held solo exhibitions at Flower Gallery, NY (2016), Haggerty Museum of Art, Milwaukee, WI (2014), Blindspot Gallery, Hong Kong, China (2014), Edwynn Houk Gallery, Zurich (2012), Camera Work Gallery, Berlin, Germany (2011), Howard Greenberg Gallery, New York (2022), and Flowers Gallery, London and New York (2019) among others. His works are held in the collections of National Portrait Gallery, London, UK, Pictet & Cie’s Art Collection, and Société Générale, Paris, France.
