BiographyMohau Modisakeng works investigate his home country of South Africa’s violent history. Using material, metaphor, and the Black body as tools to discuss his country’s dark social and political affairs, Modisakeng’s large-scale photographs and films grapple with post-colonial and post-apartheid realities, while emphasizing collective experiences within the African Diaspora. Modisakeng has been included in numerous exhibitions worldwide and was included in the 2018 Museum of Contemporary Photography exhibition, In Their Own Form.
