Formally trained in architecture, artist and educator Pedro Reyes makes work using diverse media including video, sculpture, puppetry, architecture, performance, and audience participation. Working conceptually, his primary interests involve increasing potential for power and agency within individual and collective political, social, environmental spheres.

In his role as an educator, Reyes was visiting lecturer at MIT, where he co-taught the course The Reverse Engineering of Warfare: Challenging Techno-optimism and Reimagining the Defense Sector (an Opera for the End of Times) which explored the complex interdependencies of military, technology, and entertainment. He later served as the inaugural Dasha Zhukova Distinguished Visiting Artist at MIT Center for Art, Science & Technology. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (2014); the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis (2011); Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York (2011); CCA Kitakyushu, Kitakyushu, Japan (2009); Bass Museum, Miami (2008); and San Francisco Art Institute (2008); among others.
