Godfrey, Mark
Mark Godfrey has been involved in several photography agencies and news publications throughout his career. In 1969 he began covering the war in Vietnam for the Associated Press, and subsequently worked in a similar function for LIFE and Time magazines. In 1973 Godfrey joined the renowned cooperative Magnum Photos. He continued as a member for the next eight years before leaving in 1981 to found Archive Pictures with four former Magnum photographers: Charles Harbutt, Abigail Heyman, Joan Liftin and Mary Ellen Mark. Godfrey went on to serve as the Director of Photography for U.S. News & World Report from 1989 to 1997. In 2003 he accepted a position with the Nature Conservancy, where he became Director of Photography.
