About the ArtistThe work in April Friges’ series Spectator aligns itself between photography and sculpture. Using large-scale black-and-white silver gelatin photograms, the artist physically manipulates the paper to produce sculptural images that investigate photography’s history as a medium.April Friges was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and earned her MFA in studio art from The University of California, Irvine.
