About the ArtistJorian Charlton’s photography focuses on her generation of peers within the Caribbean diaspora. She possesses a deep-rooted passion for capturing the essence of Black culture, while also expanding the canon of Black Canadian representation. Charlton was featured in the Museum of Contemporary Photography exhibition, LOVE: Still Not the Lesser, and her works in the exhibition represented a generation of Black and queer young people using their access to leisure time for dedicated enjoyment of intimacy.Jorian Charlton has been featured in exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Ontario; Cooper Cole, Toronto; and the Art Gallery of Mississauga, Mississauga. Her work is included in the Aperture traveling exhibition The New Black Vanguard: Photography between Art and Fashion.
