About the ArtistBorn in Astoria, Queens in 1949, Edward West completed a BA in Art History at Lake Forest College (1971) and an MFA at the Rochester Institute of Technology (1973). West is Professor Emeritus of Art at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Previously, he taught at the University of New Mexico and the University of Hawaii, and served as chair of Photography at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. West is represented in the portfolio Underware, published by the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1976 to celebrate its centennial year; the portfolio includes photographs by the faculty of the school's Department of Photography and nine former visiting artists.
