BiographyAdriana Parrilla was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She holds a BA in Modern Languages from the University of Puerto Rico, and an MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from Spéos Photographic Institute in Paris. Her work is an all-encompassing story, which centers on themes of identity, diversity, collective memory, and human emotions. In 2019, she was awarded the Teodoro Torres Award (Photo-Essay) in the Annual Competition of the Association of Puerto Rican Photojournalists. Her photos have been published in The Washington Post, Caribbean Migrations: The Legacies of Colonialism (Rutgers University Press), El Nuevo Día and Le Bondy Blog.
