About the ArtistLuther Smith, Jr. completed a BA at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1972) and an MFA in photography at the Rhode Island School of Design (1974), where he studied with Harry Callahan and Aaron Siskind. He is represented in the The Seventh Annual Portfolio of the Photographic Education Society, Rhode Island School of Design, which comprises photographs by the program's participants in 1973. From 1974 to 1983 Smith taught photography at the University of Illinois, before joining the faculty at Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, where he taught for thirty-five years.
